Smart Communications subscribers across the Philippines experienced significant service disruptions on Wednesday night, leaving many without access to mobile phone and internet services.
The telecommunications company confirmed the outage in a Facebook post, attributing it to a power issue at one of its facilities.
Outage reporting website downdetector.ph saw a surge in reports of problems with Smart's services, with the outage heatmap highlighting Metro Manila, Baguio, and Cebu City as particularly affected areas.
Smart assured its subscribers that its teams are working to restore services as quickly as possible. "Thank you for your patience, and we apologize for the inconvenience," the company stated in its Facebook post, published at 7:56 p.m.
However, as of this writing, Smart has not provided an estimated time for service restoration.
We will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as they become available.
