Naga City is reeling from the aftermath of Tropical Storm Enteng, with over P5 million in agricultural damages reported. Mayor Nelson Legacion confirmed the figure in an interview with Teleradyo Serbisyo.
"Based on the reports I received, the damage is estimated to be around P5 million," Legacion stated.
The storm's heavy rains have caused significant damage to crops and infrastructure, adding to the already existing agricultural losses due to El NiƱo, which have reached P5.9 billion.
Authorities are currently working on repairing a bridge damaged by the storm's floodwaters. "The bridge was damaged due to the overflowing water. We're working with our engineers to assess the damage and develop a repair plan. We're hoping to have the bridge fixed by Monday or Tuesday," Legacion said.
Enteng has left a trail of devastation in Naga, claiming three lives and prompting the city to declare a state of calamity. The storm's floods have resulted in the tragic drowning of a baby.
Government agencies have swiftly responded by providing medical and food aid to those affected by the floods. The Department of the Interior and Local Government has also distributed anti-leptospirosis medicine to the Naga LGU.
"We've ensured that all those in need have received the necessary assistance," Legacion said.
