PAGASA has announced that the trough of Tropical Storm Bebinca is already affecting the eastern part of the Philippines, ahead of its expected entry into the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) on Friday.
As of 3 a.m. today, Bebinca was located 2,070 kilometers east of Eastern Visayas with maximum sustained winds of 75 kph and gusts of up to 90 kph. It's moving west-northwest at 25 kph.
Here's what to expect:
- Eastern Visayas, Caraga, Sorsogon, and Masbate: Cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms.
- Cagayan Valley, Aurora, Quezon, and the rest of Bicol Region: Partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms.
- Metro Manila and the rest of the country: Partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms due to the southwest monsoon.
PAGASA predicts Bebinca will intensify into a severe tropical storm by Friday morning and could even become a typhoon. It's expected to enter PAR by Friday evening and will be named Ferdie.
While Bebinca is not expected to directly hit any part of the country, it will enhance the southwest monsoon, bringing occasional rains over Visayas and Palawan, as well as scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms over Bicol, MIMAROPA, and Mindanao starting Thursday.
Bebinca is expected to exit PAR by Saturday.
