The six-member group, featuring Filipino member Sophia Laforteza, will be in the country from September 17 to 19 as part of their Asian tour.
Sophia, who is the daughter of singer-actress Carla Guevara-Laforteza, shared her excitement about the visit, saying, "We're excited to come to the Philippines, like we've been waiting for this moment." She even promised that their Filipino fans will be singing along to their songs! π€
Sophia also plans to introduce her bandmates (who hail from the United States, South Korea, and Switzerland) to some delicious Filipino food. π€€ "We're gonna have lechon, weβre gonna have sinigang, weβre gonna have adobo, weβre gonna try halo-halo, taho, and we're gonna have balut, everything!" she said.
KATSEYE, managed by HYBE and Geffen Records, was formed through the talent competition program "The Debut: Dream Academy." They debuted in June with the single "Debut" from their first EP "SIS (Soft IS Strong)." Their journey to stardom was also captured in the Netflix docu-series "Pop Star Academy: KATSEYE."
Sophia reflected on the documentary, saying, "I feel like the documentary was a full-on time travel experience. It's crazy 'cause we were all babies [then]." She added, "But those things that happened years ago, and seeing where we are now it's such a jump, a beautiful journey."
Meanwhile, member Daniela from the United States expressed her excitement about the virality of their song "Touch," which has become a popular dance challenge on social media. "It's so crazy like I never thought that so many people will be dancing to our songs and singing to our lyrics, it's weird but I'm so grateful," she said.
Get ready for an unforgettable experience with KATSEYE! Don't miss their visit to the Philippines this September! π
