Former Bamban, Tarlac Mayor Alice Guo, who was dismissed from office, has refused to publicly disclose details of alleged death threats she received that led to her fleeing the Philippines in July.
During a Senate hearing of the Committee on Women, Guo expressed her fear of revealing the information publicly, stating, "I want to discuss it with you, but I'm afraid to disclose it to the public... I'm sorry."
Guo revealed that she began receiving the threats in June, claiming they came through phone calls more than five times.
Despite persistent questioning from senators, Guo refused to identify the source of the threats. Instead, she requested an executive session to discuss security matters.
Guo's claim of death threats has been met with skepticism from the Presidential Anti-Organized Crime Commission (PAOCC). Guo was arrested in Indonesia last week and told Philippine authorities about the alleged threats, which she claimed forced her to flee the country.
This development comes after a series of controversies surrounding Guo's dismissal from office and her subsequent escape from the Philippines.
