P44.4 MILLION SHABUSEIZED IN DAVAO

DAVAO CITY, Philippines — Shabu with an estimated street-value of P44.4 million was seized during an anti-narcotics operation in Panabo City, Davao del Norte yesterday.

Two drug suspects, whose identities were not immediately known, were arrested following the sting at the Oakwood Residences in Barangay New Visayas, according to Brig. Gen. Leon Victor Rosete, Davao region police director.

Police said six large plastic bags and eight sachets containing the illegal substance and marked money were seized from the suspects.

Meanwhile, in Luzon, another shabu worth P238,000 was seized from three drug suspects in Cainta, Rizal.

The suspects, identified only as Alfredo, Reynaldo and Arven, were collared after they sold shabu to police undercover agents in Barangay San Andres.

Aside from the illegal substance, police said the suspects yielded marked money, phones and drug paraphernalia.

In Kalinga, marijuana plants worth P7 million were destroyed following a raid in Rizal town on Friday.

The Philippine National Police-Drug Enforcement Group (PDEG) said up to 35,000 marijuana plants were found in a farm located near the boundary of Isabela province.

PDEG chief Col. Rolando Cuya Jr. said was launched for the owner of the farm.
