‘Squid Game’ Season 3 to premiere June 27: Netflix

The third and final season of Netflix’s hit survival drama “Squid Game” will premiere on June 27, the streaming giant announced late Thursday.

On its social media pages, Netflix unveiled a poster revealing the premiere date.

The image shows a bloodied contestant being dragged by a game guard toward a coffin wrapped in a pink ribbon. It also features the silhouettes of Young-hee, the iconic robot from the Red Light, Green Light game, alongside her male counterpart, Chul-su.

Netflix further teased the season by releasing stills, including one of protagonist Seong Gi-hun (Lee Jung-jae) handcuffed to a bed and another of the Front Man (Lee Byung-hun) looking at his mask.

Another teaser photo shows Park Sung-hoon, Jo Yu-ri, Kang Ae-shim, and Yang Dong-geun — who all play contestants in the deadly games — seemingly mourning at a coffin wrapped in a ribbon. Another scene features Park Gyu-young as No-eul, a guard working within the game.

“Squid Game,” which premiered in 2021, follows hundreds of financially struggling individuals who compete in deadly versions of children’s games for a massive cash prize.

The show is considered to be one of the most significant works in solidifying South Korea’s status as a global cultural powerhouse, alongside the Oscar-winning film “Parasite” and K-pop megastars BTS.
