The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) has announced that the final day of 2024 will be marked by cloudy skies and rain showers across various parts of the country. While no low-pressure areas are currently being monitored, three distinct weather systems are expected to impact different regions.
The Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ), where trade winds meet, will bring cloudy skies with rain to Mindanao, eastern and central Visayas (including the Negros Island region), the southern Bicol region, and Palawan.
Separately, a shear line will cause rainfall in Batanes, Cagayan, and Apayao, along with cloudy conditions in Quezon and the rest of Bicol.
Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon can expect isolated light rain showers. The northeast monsoon, or Amihan, will continue to bring cool weather and light rains to northern Luzon.
PAGASA’s 5:00 a.m. advisory warns that rainfall amounts may be significantly higher in mountainous and elevated areas. Residents in these areas should take necessary precautions.
